Meet John “JJ” Dimond: The Data Mind Behind the Intelligence

Employee Spotlight
At 4WARN®, our intelligence starts with the people who design and build the systems that power our work. In this installment of our Employee Spotlight series, we sat down with John “JJ” Dimond, Vice President of Finance and Analytics, who is the technical backbone of 4WARN, building the systems that support everything we deliver.
A New Lens on a Problem Most People Hadn't Recognized Yet
Before joining 4WARN, JJ spent several years at Demotech, where he held roles across marketing, research, and operations. Much of his work focused on managing large-scale insurance industry datasets and building tools to integrate and analyze them efficiently. That experience shaped how he thinks about big data, ensuring it’s structured, validated, and reliable enough to support real decisions.
"What initially caught my attention about 4WARN was how new and nuanced the concept was," JJ says. "At the time, I hadn't seen anyone approaching digital risk in this way, specifically looking at how coordinated online activity can impact insurers. It felt like an entirely different lens on a problem most people hadn't recognized yet."
That instinct to look where others aren't, and asking different questions about risk, is exactly why he joined 4WARN.
Building the Infrastructure Behind the Intelligence
JJ leads the design and development of the data infrastructure that supports 4WARN’s intelligence.
His work spans building and maintaining systems that ingest, organize, and validate massive volumes of data, ensuring that what reaches analysts and clients is accurate, defensible, and usable.
At any given time, those systems are processing and connecting billions (and in many cases trillions) of digital signals from search activity and websites to content patterns and network relationships.
"My focus is on building systems that allow intelligence to be generated efficiently and consistently," he explains. "The goal is to reduce manual effort so our analysts can spend more time interpreting what the signals actually mean and how we can help our customers act on that intelligence."
In other words, JJ builds the engine so the team can focus on driving. Without his work, the intelligence doesn’t hold up. He also ensures that organizations can move from simply reacting to problems to understanding how they are developing.
The Misconception That Keeps Organizations Vulnerable
If you ask JJ what he wishes more organizations understood about digital risk, he answers immediately.
"A common misconception is that digital risk is primarily about hacking or cybersecurity breaches. But in reality, a significant portion of digital risk today comes from how information is positioned and manipulated online."
He points to the growing influence of search results, paid ads, and AI-generated summaries that can guide policyholders toward litigation in the moments when they are looking for help. In many cases, that influence happens before an insurer is ever contacted.
"These activities are often perceived as normal marketing or background noise,” he says. “But when you look at them collectively, you start to see how coordinated they can be, and how they can influence consumer behavior at scale.”

Risk Doesn't Start When an Event Occurs
When we asked JJ what "Risk, Rewritten." means to him, he cuts right to the heart of what makes 4WARN different.
"Traditionally, risk is something organizations deal with during or after an event. Our work is about understanding what happens before that point, when signals are already forming but haven’t been fully recognized."
For JJ, that’s what gets him out of bed in the morning. The systems he builds aren’t just technical exercises. They help identify early warning signals so organizations can respond sooner and with confidence to better protect the people they serve.
"When those signals are found early, it changes how decisions can be made,” he says. “And ultimately, that has a real impact on policyholders, whether that's protecting their home, their health, or their financial security after a major event."
Outside the Office
If you think JJ’s love of building things only happens at the office, think again. Outside of work, he enjoys experimenting with 3D printing and small electronics projects using Arduino platforms. His current project is building an automated Halloween skeleton that tracks motion, talks to trick-or-treaters, and hands out candy using cameras and servo motors.
He also spends time exploring places like Mammoth Cave National Park, playing a mix of indie and competitive games, and staying connected with friends and family.
"The thing I value most is spending time with the people around me and enjoying the moments where everyone can relax and have fun together."
The People Behind the Intelligence
4WARN is built on the belief that protecting organizations and the people they serve requires more than data. It requires people who care deeply about getting it right and building systems that can be trusted when decisions matter.
JJ brings that same curiosity and compassion to everything he does, from his work at 4WARN to his Halloween creations, and we're so glad he's on the team.
